Attach personal identification on all checked baggage. We recommend that you place the identical information inside your bag just in case the outside identification gets lost.
Do not lock your bags. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screens all checked baggage for your security. Unlocked bags can be examined quickly. If your checked baggage is locked and the TSA cannot open it through other means, then the locks may have to be cut increasing the time it takes to screen your baggage. Neither the TSA nor Spirit is liable for damage caused by locked bags that must be opened for security purposes.
Use quality luggage that is designed to withstand the stress of airport baggage handling systems and avoid overpacking.
Carry necessities such as medicine, car/house keys, cash, wallets, important documents, jewelry, electronics (e.g., laptops, iPads, phones), and irreplaceable items (e.g., heirlooms) with you on the aircraft in carry-on luggage, just in case your baggage is separated from you for a time.
