Smart luggage is a suitcase that has built-in electronics for one or more purposes. Examples are USB charging ports, a built-in scale, or TSA approved lock, as well as the ability to transmit its location via GPS and cellular.

Spirit will not accept Smart luggage as a carry-on or as checked baggage as the lithium batteries could pose a safety risk. However, if the lithium-ion battery can be removed, the bag is no longer considered Smart Luggage and can be accepted as a carry-on or checked luggage.

Spirit does not accept spare lithium ion batteries that exceed 100 Watt hours.
